Introduction
From version 2.2.1b attachment handling has been enhanced. As well as ease
of use there is also the option to autolaunch an attachment that is within
a document and some new dxtags to show these attachments within your webpages.
You can also search attachments if the relevant option has been ticked
within your full text search index settings.
There is now a dedicated view within the resources section which lists
all attachments in your database - if you attach a file to a document your
file is also viewable here.

Adding Attachments to your documents
The process to attach a file to a document is straight forward - when your
document is in edit mode you have the menu option "Add Attachment
from Directory" in your "Action" menu.
You will then get a file dialog to select your attachment/s. Note that
attaching files directly into the rich text field is not supported (for
technical reasons) - this menu option does this automatically.
Alternatively you can select an attachment that has already been added
to the database by using the "Add Attachment from Database" option.
To view any attachments in your document there is an "Attachments"
tab within the document - so you can view/edit/delete your attachments
with ease:

Auto Launching your attachments
You now have the ability to autolaunch an attachment when your document
is directly opened. To select an attachment to autolaunch there is an option
entitled "Autolaunch Attachment" in the "miscellaneous"
tab within your document to select which attachment to launch:
Once you have saved your document when this document is opened it will
now open the attachment instead.
Displaying the attachments in your documents/document lists
In order to show the attachments in your web pages/documents etc there
are some new DXTags:
< $DXAttachments$> - displays a list of attachments as a text list.
< $DXAttachmentIcons$> - displays a list of attachments as icons.
When you use these tags the system will output the links automatically
(you can put these tags within document/content list templates or directly
into your content where you want the attachment/s to be shown)- by default
a break tag is inserted at the end of each list item however you have the
ability to customise the html/text which is placed in front and after each
attachment link or icon.
You can customise this text/html within the configuration document - Site
Settings tab - Thumbnails/Images sub tab:
You will note that you can also change the icon to be used for the downloads
- the default is "download.gif" which is in the download template
in case you want to use it.
The following image shows a list of attachments in a document - the attachments
get sorted into alphabetical order:
