For
new installers it is a simple case of creating a new database using the template that can be downloaded from this site.
You will need to sign your database (or the Template first) with an ID that has permissions to run agents on the server.
The database will then run as it is. You should however change the following to tailor for your use:
You need to go into the configuration section - Site Configuration and edit the configuration document - see image below.
You should then change the information as detailed below.
Tab:Site Settings - General
URL of Site (must be in this format: http://www.DominoBlog.com/dominoblog.nsf/ )
Domain URL of Site (must be in this format: http://www.DominoBlog.com)
Site Title
Site Description
Site Owner
Meta Tags - Author (Same as Site Owner)
Meta Tags - Description (Same as Site Description)
Meta Tags - Keywords (Words that describe your website for the purposes of web crawlers etc)
Tab:Advanced
Primary Server - Click the "Set to current server" button or complete the field with the name of the server that will be the web hosting server.
Once you have edited these then save your configuration document.
A couple of other things I recommend you do - firstly create yourself a User Profile document with the User Profiles view (again under the configuration section as shown in the above image) - secondly create a 'full text index' on the replica of the database that will be hosted on a web server - this will speed up the search facility.
ACL settings should include "anonymous" as a "Person" and with "Author" rights (ie the ability to Create Documents). Then it is up to you who else you add to it.
For
people upgrading you will need to:
- Replace your design from the new template.
- Sign your Database with the id of someone who has permissions to run agents on the server if the template was not already signed.
- Make sure the Site URL field is set in the config document - (Tab:Site Settings) must be in this format: http://www.DominoBlog.com/dominoblog.nsf/
- Make sure the Domain URL field is set in the config document (important this is a new field)- (Tab:Site Settings) must be in this format: http://www.DominoBlog.com
- Make sure the server name is set in the tab "Advanced" Field "Primary Server".
- Click the "Version 3 Update" Option on the Action Menu which can be found in the default Content View. I would recommend you create a local replica and perform this action on this as it will be a lot quicker!
You are now done.
Web Client The web client components are installed by default if you create a new database from the template. If you are upgrading you will need to follow the following steps to enable your system for web access.
1) From the new Template copy all of the template documents from the Template section > "Web Admin"
2) From the new template - section images - copy eight images - "pencil.gif", "live.jpg", "arrow.gif","vwcal.gif","dx3_40.jpg", "speech.gif", "magnify.gif", "trcorner.gif".
3) From the new template - section "Configuration - Web Clients" - copy the "Default" web client document to your database.
4) After copying the above, go into your configuration document and make set the default web client by going to the tab "Web Client" and selecting "Default" from the Default web client drop down.
5) Save and Close the Configuration document
6) In the ACL of your database there is a role "webadmin" and "webcompose" (add role to database if doesn't exist) - Add this role to any People or Groups you want to grant access to the web client (you can also assing this role to Anonymous if you want anyone to add/edit content).
The URL for accessing the web client is website.com/database.nsf/webadmin?open&login. You can place this on your site automatically by using the dxtag < $DXAdmin$ > (without the spaces).
